Riserva Naturale Zompo lo Schioppo

Immersed in the nature and heart of the Abruzzese-Laziale Apennines, the Zompo Lo Schioppo Nature Reserve offers an enchanted landscape in the heart of the protected area. The reserve, in the municipality of Morino, extends in the direction of the Monti Simbruini Monti Park and the Abruzzo National Park.
An expanses of an uncontaminated nature between woods, oaks and the natural waterfall that is the destination of tourists and lovers of nature. Zompo Lo Schioppo, with the regional law number 24 of 29 May 1987, falls within the so -called protected areas of the region. There have been many initiatives by the municipal administration and the manager of the manager aimed at protecting the reserve with projects of sustainability and protection and enhancement of the territory. There are many tourists who use the parking area to admire the naturalistic setting and the waterfall inside the reserve and many who stop every year even more than a day to dive into this unspoiled corner of the territory.
The area is accessible to the public every day of the week. On holidays, entry to the reserve is paid. Two euros on Easter Monday, April 25, May 1st, Ferragosto and in the summer. Children up to six years are exempt. In the area there are tables or fire points that can be used for picnic.

It is very easy to get to the parking area: one is the Piano Sacramento, which is located near the parking lots, the other is Piazzale Lo Schoppo, which can be easily reached on foot with the first stretch of path. Upon arrival for tourists, maps and tourist volunteers are available ready to satisfy any curiosity or doubt about the routes. The Zompo Lo Schioppo Nature Reserve has recently won the Trip Advisor Traveler's Choice Prize, a recognition that celebrates the realities that constantly offer fantastic experiences to travelers all over the world. All this was possible after dozens of excellent reviews left on Tripadvisor by visitors.
Thanks to the contribution of the Abruzzo Region, the Municipality of Morino has also carried out new works on the parking areas that allowed the creation of spaces and services for tourists. Even in the particular year of the pandemic, the appearances were numerous, testifying that mountain tourism, excursions and uncontaminated nature attract and fascinate, welcome and recall those who seek tranquility, clean air and escape from everyday life.
