Rifugio LO SCHIOPPO

Description

In the heart of the Zompo lo Schioppo Nature Reserve, at an altitude of 750 meters and close to the eponymous waterfall that flows sheer from the sun-drenched walls of an unusual natural amphitheater, lies the Lo Schioppo Hiking Refuge.

The structure is divided into four areas: three bedrooms with bunk beds and bathrooms, one of which is accessible to the physically challenged, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dining area. The structure is equipped with electric lighting, heating, and a fireplace.

The Lo Schioppo Refuge is open year-round and is managed by the Dendrocopos cooperative. It can also be self-managed if necessary. The structure can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes along an easy path. Access by motorized vehicle is permitted only for persons with disabilities and to unload luggage. In both cases, the vehicle must display a permit from the managing body.

During the summer season, the refuge also opens as a restaurant and offers tourist menus with typical local products.
